Effectively manage reproduction on your farm with precise heat detection and calving alerts!
Successful reproduction figures are crucial for the profitability of your dairy farm. The unique health monitoring provided by the smaXtec system lays the foundation for a fertile herd and therefore your farm’s success. In addition to health, the data the smaXtec system provides helps you optimize your reproduction and fertility management. Precise heat monitoring, abortion detection and early calving notifications make this possible!
Never miss a heat again thanks to precise, reliable and automated heat detection. With smaXtec, you know exactly when each cow needs to be inseminated and you increase your reproductive success on the farm.
Today’s dairy cows show shorter and weaker signs of heats, often at night. The risk of missing these signs is high. The observation effort is enormous and there are enough other things to do on the dairy operation. As a result, there is often not enough staff available to devote the necessary time to heat observation meaning some heats are overlooked.
Every missed heat costs the farm money. According to studies, the cost per missed heat is between $87 – $130. smaXtec helps you avoid these costs by reliably detecting heats for you and providing you with additional information on the ideal time for insemination and heat index.
smaXtec detects heats based on changes in cow behavior (e.g. activity and rumination). The system analyzes the behavoir of these parameters and suggests an insemination window when a heat is detected.
With smaXtec, you know when an insemination is most likely to be successful, when the probability of success decreases, and when insemination is not advisable.
Digital, continuous heat monitoring offers a further advantage: you have an overview of the current fertility status of each cow at all times and can immediately see if a cow’s fertility cycle indicates any problems. This allows you to act quickly and improve the fertility of your herd.
For efficient, targeted monitoring, all animals with a conspicuous cycle are collected on a list. Early detection of abortions saves time and increases profitability. This allows you to improve fertility figures through rapid re-insemination.
With smaXtec, you no longer need to set an alarm clock in the night to see if the calf is coming: you know when a calf is expected. This allows you to prepare the calving pen and provide support if necessary.
In addition to monitoring the health of your animals during the critical birth phase, you are also informed of imminent calvings and can even get an indication of twin births. How does the smaXtec system know a cow will give birth? The change in body temperature is a widely recognized and scientifically proven sign that calving is imminent. The temperature drops significantly when the calving process begins.
Based on this scientific knowledge, the system detects calving at an early stage. This means you receive an alarm on average of 15 hours before each calving and can keep a close eye on your animals.

You can make the necessary preparations in advance
Efficient use of the calving area
Be informed – even if a calf arrives earlier than planned
When necessary, you can administer prophylactic agents such as calcium
If you already know that complications may occur, for example in the case of malpositions, you can inform your vet early
You are ready to intervene in an emergency and support the cow and calf during birth
You can reduce the number of stillborn calves with the right obstetric care
You can reduce the risk of postpartum retention and uterine infections
With additional health information, you know immediately whether the cow is suffering from a metabolic disease such as milk fever in the critical period after birth.
Proactive health management helps to increase fertility and shorten calving intervals.
